Former Louisiana Governor, Out of Jail, Set to Star in New Reality TV Series
By Kristen Luciani| The Save Jersey Blog
OK, Save Jerseyans, I have a confession to make. I guess this is a safe place for me to admit that I am a closet fame-seeker.
Although by admission am I “out” of the closet now??
Anyway, it seems as though I must be barking up the wrong tree with my aspirations when I consider things going on in the world today that are perceived as news-worthy and having a captive audience (though the latter remains to be seen).
Evidently, 85 year-old Edwin Edwards, the former Louisiana Democratic governor released from prison in 2011, and his lovely 34 year-old wife Trina will have their own reality show on A&E beginning next month. Though described as “colorful” by Entertainment Weekly, Edwards served a 10-year sentence after prosecutors claimed he requested payoffs from those who applied for riverboat casino licenses in New Orleans in the 1990s…
This new show will reportedly highlight the pen pal romance that bloomed between Trina and Edwards while he was serving his time, as well as follow the relationships Trina tries to establish with two stepdaughters that are twice her age – all while trying to raise her own two teenage sons, running for president of the Homeowner’s Association, defending her good name whilst she is labeled a gold digge by detractors, and considering having an Edwards baby of her own.
Seriously?!?!
How could I possibly compete with all of that???? Clearly, I am missing the “boat,” folks!
I may need to come up with a new plan for myself. Perhaps I should just stick to political commentary….
Are there shitty reality TV shows? Yes. Are there good reality TV shows? Yes. I don't think it's fair to shun the genre just because there are more "bad" (easier to make) reality TV shows than good ones.
You can't tar "The Amazing Race" with the same brush as this tripe.
