Riding a strong opening to his 2013 fundraising effort, Governor Chris Christie has declined public matching funds for the primary phase of Election 2013. He had accepted them for his 2009 campaign against Jon Corzine.
“In response to Governor Christie’s decisive leadership and clear record of historic, bipartisan reform, we’ve seen an unprecedented level of financial support from donors across all 21 counties in New Jersey. This positive reaction during such a short period of time only continues to grow daily which is why Governor Christie’s campaign has decided not to pursue matching funds for this primary election cycle” said Bill Palatucci, a close Christie ally and NJGOP National Committeeman by way of press release.
“I would also like to thank Todd Christie, Jon Hanson and the entire finance committee for their continued efforts. They have been a tremendous help in reaching the campaign’s fundraising goals.”
At the end of the fourth quarter, Christie for Governor reported $2.139 million raised and $2.08 million cash on hand to the Election Law Enforcement Commission.
As if he really needed them.
