Pulling for Jersey Boy Flacco

Joe FlaccoI know the Giants fell short this year, Save Jerseyans.

The Eagles and Jets were never really close. Brutal…

But diehard New Jersey NFL fans are still watching the conference championship games this Sunday; it’s either that or breathless coverage of Barack Obama’s Joe Biden’s second presidential inauguration ceremonies. It’s a no-brainer for me and I’m sure for you, too.

If you’re nevertheless having trouble summoning sufficient excitement for either match up, consider that the Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback, Joe Flacco, is a South Jersey native. Casual football watchers may not be aware but it’s true. He grew up in the tiny municipality of Audubon, New Jersey (Camden County), and his family still lives in the same area. I took a group of friends to my favorite Camden County diner on Sunday morning located in Audubon, and Joe Flacco’s No. 5 Ravens jersey and autographed photo were proudly on display for patrons.

So if you’re looking for something to be excited about today, consider tuning to CBS at 6:30 p.m. and cheering on a Jersey boy as he fights for his first Super Bowl berth. Why not? I know most of you’ll have no qualms cheering against the Patriots. This long-suffering Eagles fan sure hasn’t forgotten our 3-point loss at Super Bowl XXXIX…
