Save Jersey was the first (with an assist from Barbara Buono) to point out that Cory Booker’s ads claiming thousands of created Newark jobs were misleading at best. At worst, it’s a self-serving lie which, once exposed, belies the myth that Booker is doing something special in Newark worthy of replication on the national level. Far from it.
Remember that Newark’s unemployment rate in July 2006, when Mayor McTwitter first took the reins as the Brick City’s tweeter-in-chief, was a full 3.6-points lower than it is today.
For those of you who learned mathematics in an Abbott District, Booker’s claim is only valid if Newark lost more jobs than it created over the same period. Not much of an accomplishment by any objective definition of success, wouldn’t you agree?
It’s still much easier to appreciate the absurdity of Booker running on a “jobs” record when you have a visual upon which to rely. h/t Phil Kerpen, creator of BookerFail.com, for putting together the nifty little graph posted stage right, Save Jerseyans. Is this the “path toward reinvigorating America’s cities” that The Philadelphia Inquirer editorial board endorsed over the weekend? If so, then God help us all!
LOL you think Buono´s gonna do a better job? She´s an extension of Corzine, and look what he did to the State. Take a look at Detroit, people. Keep voting in these Democrats and that´s your future. Aren´t you all tired of paying these disgusting property taxes?
Property taxes keep going up, who´s the current Governor?
What´s Steve Lonegan´s jobs record? Oh wait, he doesn´t have one….
and most were created because of subsidies
