Governor Chris Christie’s gubernatorial campaign is responding to challenger Barbara Buono’s education attacks with the words of a fellow Democrat. You may’ve heard of him…
The incumbent’s press team is circulating the following quote from Newark’s part-time crime fighter/mayor/celebrity Cory Booker (D-Twitter), offered back in May 2012 in support of the long-languishing Opportunity Scholarship Act: “We have created a system that chokes out potential of millions of children trapped in schools that deny the beauty of their genius … We need to get the Opportunity Scholarship Act passed because we need to lift the bar higher.” Sen. Buono has consistently opposed any school choice reforms however modest including, but not limited to, this common sense bipartisan legislation that would incentivize private-public scholarship partnerships in urban areas including Newark.
Ridiculous stuff, right? This is also a classic example of karma at work, Save Jerseyans.
Back in July, you may recall that Buono’s campaign dropped a TV ad attacking Governor Christie’s jobs record; the ad specifically cited Newark’s high unemployment rate at a time that the U.S. Senate candidate was touting his own jobs record. Oh, the ponderous webs that these liars weave!
