Sandy Aid Still 99% Unspent

Sandy Aid Still 99% Unspent

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Obama Katrina #2We’ve been covering the horrendous federal Sandy response for months now, Save Jerseyans, and I’m doing our best to turn it into a learning experience for Garden State voters concerning the limitations of federal competency.

One of the most frustrating aspects of the entire episode involves the Democrats and the Republicans who demanded immediate passage of a pork-filled, sloppily crafted multi-billion dollar aid package with no questions asked.

Now I’m betting some of those elected officials would’ve liked to ask more questions, particularly concerning how quickly the funds would be released.

The AP is reporting today that only approximately $700 million of the $60 billion package has been disbursed, an inexcusable situation built into the bill that Save Jersey complained about from day #1. That’s a little more than 1%. And for the record, $9 billion of the roughly $60 billion Sandy aid package was slated to be disbursed in the first nine (9) months. They’re waaaay behind schedule on the eve of the storm’s one-year anniversary which is very unwelcome news for thousands of victims who are still homeless.

But what did you really expect from the same morons who bungled Benghazi, armed drug cartels, nearly started WWIII over Syria and launched a half-billion dollar website that doesn’t work? Among other disasters?

I’m as angry as I am unsurprised, Save Jerseyans. I hope you are, too.

  1. Very sad to read about the number of residents/taxpayers still displaced. I believe there was some "earmarked pork" in the Sandy Bill, are those legislators/representatives still waiting for their share of pork? Doubt it sadly!

  2. But we do have a very catchy tune and some unwanted footage of Christie & his family at
    The Jersey shore!!
