D.C.-based College Republican chapters are in Jersey for the weekend, Save Jerseyans, and they’re helping run up the score against the soon-to-be-retired from politics Barbara Buono (BWOH’-noh) and her nearly non-existent field program.
As part of this operation, approximately 50 college-age campaigners from your Blogger-in-Chief’s undergraduate alma mater, the Catholic University of America, were on the ground in Monmouth County on Saturday knocking doors and making calls on behalf of the GOP ticket.
All of their hard work is translating to thousands of valuable voters contacts…
This deployment is a popular tradition for the CUA CR’s going back to my time as the chapter’s president (circa 2004-2005).
In fact, CUA student have come to the Garden State for 4 of the past 7 campaign cycles along with CR’s from neighboring D.C. schools as part of what we’ve affectionately dubbed the “War for the Shore” (because they’ve been deployed in Ocean and Cape May Counties in the past for congressional, legislative and gubernatorial GOTV).
It’s incredibly important work which another CUA alum and former Save Jersey blogger Alex Smith has advocated on the national level as the current head of the College Republican National Committee.
We’ve included a couple more action shots below; hopefully their good effort gives Save Jerseyans who are young Republicans at heart a little more hope for the future…
