Langone Predicts Christie Win Over Bush

Governor Chris Christie speaks before President Barack Obama on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, N.J. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.

Kevin Langone, a long-time Christie booster and co-founder of the Home Depot, doubled-down on his support for the Guv on CNBC this Wednesday by predicting that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush wouldn’t defeat him in a hypothetical primary head-to-head.

Langone tried to get Christie to run in 2012, too, telling media at the time that he “did everything but sit on his chest” as part of an ardent lobbying effort.

Nothing’s changed Langone’s mind since then but he’s confident the country is coming around. “America is ready for the truth and direct talk,” Langone told the CNBC team while admitting, humorously, that his track record predicting winners is less-than-stellar (I’d also invite Mr. Langone to read my “improvised landslide” post):

  1. I predict neither will be the nominee. Unless Christie comes out of Iowa and New Hampshire like gang busters and clears the field fast, I don’t believe Christie will win S. Carolina and I don’t think he will beat Bush in Florida, thus making conservative Southern states the battle ground where neither Bush or Christie will do well.
