The Mayor of Mount Olive, the largest town in New Jersey’s 24th legislative district, might soon be a candidate to replace retiring Assemblywoman Alison McHose, Save Jerseyans.
Here’s what Rob Greenbaum shared on Wednesday evening via Facebook:
An earlier post was less subtle:
“Thinking about running for the open 24th District Assembly seat which includes Sussex County,” he posted in the same thread, responding to inquires from followers. “May need some help.”
Traditionally, before the district changed to include less of Morris County, one seat always belonged to a Morris member (e.g. Guy Gregg and Dick Kamin). We’ll see what happens this time around! Two other candidates – Sussex County Freeholder Gail Phoebus (R) and former mayor of Green Township Marie Bilik – are already whipping support ahead of an as-of-yet unspecified convention.
Didn’t Greenbaum negatively characterize an opponent as “tea party” a few years ago? Don’t know about Mt. Olive, but Sussex and Warren are very conservative.
I doubt he will give up his re-election bid for mayor just to take a chance on Assembly.
