Christie “wouldn’t have gone to war” in Iraq

George W. Bush may’ve made him a U.S. Attorney, Save Jerseyans, but in his never-ending quest to create sunlight between himself and the former president’s brother in the midst of a donor war, Chris Christie drew a line in the sand on CNN Tuesday night hours after Jeb Bush defended U.S. intervention in Iraq.

“If we knew then what we know now, and I were the president of the United States, I wouldn’t have gone to war,” Christie told Jake Tapper. “But we don’t get to replay history.”

“I would have (authorized the invasion), and so would have Hillary Clinton, just to remind everybody,” said Bush during an interview with Fox News interviewer Megyn Kelly. “And so would almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got.”

Christie disagrees. “I think President Bush made the best decision he could at the time given that his intelligence community told him there was WMD and there were other threats right there in Iraq,” he continued. “But I don’t think you can honestly say that if we knew then that there were no WMD that the country should have gone to war.

  1. Great. Maybe, instead of second-guessing 12 year old foreign policy, Christie can come back to NJ and work on fulfilling his campaign promise to bring school choice to families in urban school districts that are horrendous. If Cuomo can get this done in NY, why can’t Christie get it done in NJ?
