Well that was a waste of time. As predicted.
On Thursday afternoon, the New Jersey State Senate failed to override Governor Chris Christie’s veto of a gun control bill (S2360) designed to inject government in the process of scrubbing medical records.
The final State Senate vote tally was 25 to 11; two more senators, or 27 votes, were needed for a successful override. Two Republican senators – Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) and Christopher Connors (R-Ocean) – voted with Democrats to support the override. Theresa Ruiz (D-Essex) and Joseph Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) were absent from the floor while Christopher Bateman (R-Somerset) and Anthony Bucco (R-Morris) didn’t cast votes.
_________
Vote record?
Twenty-seven votes are needed to override a veto in the 40-member Senate, which is controlled by Democrats, who hold 24 seats. The effort fell two votes shy, with a 25-11 vote.
No senator voted against the bill in March, but only two GOP senators — Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) and Christopher Connors (R-Ocean) — voted to override fellow Republican Christie on Thursday.
Two senators — Theresa Ruiz (D-Essex) and Joseph Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) — were absent. Two other senators, Christopher Bateman (R-Somerset) and Anthony Bucco (R-Morris) did not vote.
How about a law that applies all gun regulations to cops and bodyguards? Why are some citizens more equal than others?
Glad to see my Senator (Beck) stuck with her original vote and voted to override. Not a lot of profiles in courage with the others who are apparently so afraid of Christie they cant vote their convictions.

I guess you needed to post twice so the folks could get your drift, eh Bobbo? I for one am glad the morons in the legislature overrode Gov. Zeppelin’s veto. The last thing beleaguered gun owners of NJ need is a Democrat-dominated legislature deciding who is “crazy” and who is not.
