Governor Chris Christie isn’t accepting many in-state speaking invitations these days, Save Jerseyans, but when he does, they’re always good for some pull quotes. Monday morning’s address to the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey Breakfast at the Whippany Marriott was no exception.
“They’ve now announced that I’ve vetoed more tax increases than any governor in American history,” Christie said hitting the ball back at Democrats after their 52nd veto override attempt last week. “Now what’s that mean? It should tell you something about my commitment and the commitment of Republicans in the legislature to the taxpaying families and the small and medium-sized businesses in this state. And it tells you something about the Democrats who run the legislature too. Because I couldn’t have done it without them. Think about it, I couldn’t have made history by vetoing the most tax increases in American history without our liberal Democratic legislature sending me the most tax increases to veto in American history.”
