Menendez, Lesniak had a bad week in court

Two of our state’s more notorious liberals suffered legal setbacks at the end of last week.

On Thursday, the final six of 15 motions to dismiss corruption charges against Senator Bob Menendez (D-Dominican Republic, Ecuador). Two bribery counts were tossed out last month but the ultimate fate of Menendez’s prosecution will be decided when a pending appeal to the Third Circuit is resolved.

Then, on Friday, Superior Court Judge Michael Hogan denied an unusual (read: inappropriate) appeal by thin-skinned state Senator Ray Lesniak (D-20) in litigation stemming from the Christie Administration’s Exxon settlement. That’s going to result in an appeal to the Superior Court’s appellate division.

Republicans are up next, heading to Passaic Superior Court on Wednesday for a hearing on the LD38 ballot.
