Tis the season for helping those who need a hand, Save Jerseyans.
Assemblyman Chris Brown (R-2) got into the spirit this week by partnering with UNITE HERE Local 54 and the Community Food Bank of South Jersey to distribute food baskets to fifty Taj Mahal casino employees’ families.
“In addition to the nearly 10,000 who lost their jobs when four casinos closed in 2014, thousands more of our friends and neighbors have seen their benefits eliminated and income slashed as their full time jobs became part time jobs,” said Brown, who won reelection in November. “I commend Local 54 and the Community Food Bank for the work they are doing to ensure these families are not forgotten this holiday season.”
Local 54 and the Taj’s management have been embroiled in a nasty public feud with political overtones as the trouble casino’s fate in bankruptcy remains uncertain.
