I have been “pro-life” for as long as I can remember, Save Jerseyans. I actually prefer the term abolitionist but, for the sake of this writing, let’s just say I am and have always been pro-life.
It was an obvious conclusion for me which becoming a mother recently has only intensified. The truth is that, when faced with an unplanned pregnancy, women have options that do not have to include killing an innocent unborn human being. But for some people this is not an obvious conclusion.
The challenge is real. In the past, I struggled to have conversations with people about why abortion is wrong because frankly, people are generally desensitized. I have looked a woman in the face and explained how, at 7 weeks gestation, an unborn human being in his mother’s womb has a heartbeat and can legally be killed by having his limbs ripped apart through a suction tube.
She was completely unphased. I wasn’t.
Conversations like this are all too common for those of us in the pro-life movement and it can be discouraging when people can’t see the obvious inhumanity of abortion.
There’s good news: the sands are shifting thanks to the efforts of groups like Live Action and the bold work of former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levantino. When faced with the facts, people who once identified as “pro-choice” are changing their minds about abortion INSTANTLY after watching Dr. Levantino describe the process of a second-trimester surgical abortion procedure.

I firmly believe that abortion is the human rights issue of our time. The only way we will ever end abortion is to face it head on. Videos like these are helping and it is important that as many people as possible view them and become motivated to help affect change.
Don’t forget how New Jersey has an abortion problem, Save Jerseyans. According to the Guttmacher Institute, our tiny state of New Jersey represent 4.4% of all abortions in the United States and out of all 50 states (and Washington DC) New Jersey’s 2011 abortion total ranks us as #5 on the list with the most abortions.
This is heartbreaking. This is unacceptable. Help do something about it by being a voice for the voiceless.
Share these videos. Spend your lunch hour at an abortion facility and talk with the women going in. If you Google search “abortion clinic near” and enter your zip code, you will be shocked at how close your local abortion provider is. Donate to your local crisis pregnancy center. These organizations are doing amazing work and are crucial to this fight (list here).
Your efforts in this fight make a difference now that our tactics and tools (I’m happy to report) are getting better all of the time.
