N.J. Assembly Candidate Falls Short After Vulgar Clip Sinks Campaign

Brian McDowell

He’s fired, Save Jerseyans.

On Tuesday night, Cumberland County Freeholder James Sauro and Downe Mayor Robert Campbell won both LD1 GOP Assembly nominations over Brian McDowell, a Cape May County real estate agent.

McDowell made mainstream media headlines in April when a recording surfaced of him telling a young woman the following: “Let me tell you right now. You should (expletive) me. It would really be good. Listen, you never know.”

A former contestant on Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” program, McDowell stayed in the race even after losing the support of both the Cape May and Cumberland county Republican parties.

The Republican tickets faces off Democratic incumbents Bruce Land and Robert Andrzejczak this November.
