UPDATE: Rendo compares Murphy town hall violence to Castro’s CDR

After Save Jersey exclusively released footage on Friday morning of a 23-year old GOP volunteer being violently shoved at a Murphy town hall meeting, Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor Carlos Rendo, a North Jersey mayor and Cuban immigrant, had harsh words for the event’s organizers.

“Is this how the Murphy campaign operates? Reminds me of the Cuban Committees for the defense of the Revolution,” Rendo declared to his Facebook following. “Stifling dissent, using violence against those that have a different opinion. This young man was simply taking a video of the event. I guess the Murphy campaign doesn’t want people to hear his plan to raise taxes by 1.3 billion and his proposal to make New Jersey a Sanctuary State.”

Rendo’s Cuba reference pertains to the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, a notorious “secret police” network established during the early days of brutal and repressive Castro regime. The Cuban analogy isn’t a new one for the candidate; when he first joined Kim Guadagno’s ticket, Rendo dismissed many of the rival Murphy campaign’s ideas as too similar to those of the communist regime he and his family abandoned.

Meanwhile, the individual doing the shoving has not yet been identified.

Here’s the shocking video in case you missed it:
