RGA goes up in NYC broadcast market against Murphy

A recent RGA ad targeting Murphy.

In the latest sign that it may be giving New Jersey a second look this cycle, the Republican Governors Association (RGA) went live on Tuesday with its first New Jersey gubernatorial TV spot of the 2017 cycle.

“Phil Murphy is so out-of-touch, he’s campaigning on a promise to raise New Jersey taxes by at least $1.3 billion a year,” said RGA Communications Director Jon Thompson. “If elected, you can bet this is one campaign promise Phil Murphy intends to keep. Murphy has made higher taxes the central issue in this election, but New Jersey families can stop him this November.”

The 15-second spot — “Loaded and Liberal” — is airing on New York area broadcast and cable television. It focuses on Murphy’s open plans to enact a historic tax increase if elected in November.

An early September RGA fundraiser in Monmouth County headlined by Chris Christie and Scott Walker raked in $2.1 million for the national Republican governors’ political arm.
