POLL: This N.J. High School Is Ditching Class Rank. Wise? Or Snowflaky?

OCEAN CITY, N.J. — Starting with the class of 2019? Ocean City High School, serving one of the state’s largest and leading summertime beach resorts, will cease ranking its students by their respective grade point averages (GPAs).

The district’s board of education is opting instead for a “broader, more holistic scale.

It’s a trend that’s catching fire in other states, too, but is it really a good thing? Or just the latest attempt to coddle an objectively over-coddled generation?
