VINELAND, N.J. – Sam Fiocchi didn’t win the Cumberland County convention despite representing his home turf on both the freeholder board and, later, in the state legislature.

After the endorsed candidate — former FBI agent Robert Turkavage — lost a post-convention bracketing battle with local GOP Chairman Mike Testa, the county is up for grabs and Fiocchi is working to make up lost ground.

On Thursday, the former LD1 Assemblyman announced the support of Cumberland County Young Republican Organization Chairman William M. Gruccio in the 2nd Congressional District Republican Primary election on June 5th.

“Endorsing Sam and encouraging our membership and all Republicans to vote for Fiocchi is the right thing to do,” Gruccio said.  “He has been committed to our County and this District throughout his career both as a businessman and as an elected official.

Fiocchi is presently locked in an endorsement duel with the race’s likely front runner, Atlantic County’s Hirsh Singh, who for his part has four county lines and some money in the kitty relative to his cashless Republican adversaries.
