Petition launched to stop Murphy’s push for illegal alien driver’s licenses

TRENTON, N.J. — Opponents of the New Jersey Democrat campaign to grant drivers licenses to illegal aliens are mobilizing online amid an ongoing battle between Phil Murphy’s sanctuary state policies and the intrepid leaders and officers of ICE.

“The New Jersey Governor has the backs of criminal aliens and he expects you to just deal with it,” wrote NJ 101.5 host Bill Spadea on Tuesday. “Accept drivers licenses for illegals. Accept that you will be paying for their legal bills as they fight the legitimate deportation orders of the federal government. Accept that his Attorney General Gurbir Grewal has directed NJ law enforcement to stand down and not cooperate with Federal Immigration Enforcement. Going so far as to prevent them from even sharing a computer.”

Against this backdrop, Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne C. Gove (all Republicans representing New Jersey’s 9th Legislative District) have launched a petition “to tell Governor Murphy that it’s wrong to give driver’s licenses to illegal aliens and to stop his effort to turn New Jersey into a sanctuary state.”

“Think of how absurd the state’s immigration policies are right now. Residents’ federal tax dollars are being used to fund ICE to crack down on illegal immigration while at the same time their state tax dollars are being used to pay the legal costs of illegal aliens facing deportation,” declared the legislators in a joint statement.

The legislation at issue (S-3229/A-4743) was introduced in both chambers of the state legislature back in December.
