What’s the REAL reason why Trenton Democrats are advancing legislation to keep Donald Trump off of the 2020 ballot?
Noting that Republicans lost four U.S. House seats in New Jersey last cycle, Save Jersey founder Matt Rooney reminded 1210 WPHT’s Dom Giordano on Friday that “they’re also districts that Bob Hugin (the man who ran against Bob Menendez won), they still lean Republican, so if Republicans are gonna take back the House? They gotta win those districts. […] If you don’t have Donald Trump at the got of the ticket, it’s going to depress turnout.”
Republicans five U.S. House seats in New Jersey between the 2016 and 2018 cycles. All five are presently on the national GOP’s campaign target list for 2020 making Democrats’ motivations clear given their relatively tenuous 38 seat majority.
“They want all these MAGA voters to stay home and pretend there’s not an election,” Rooney continued.
