ROONEY: Falling U.S. birth rates may narrow voters’ vision

TRENTON, N.J. – The U.S. overall birth rate has hit a 32-year low.

Why is it happening? What are the implications? Save Jersey Founder and Blogger-in-Chief Matt Rooney returned to Chasing News on Wednesday to opine on the issue alongside co-panelist Afia Yunus.

“I think there could be some real bad implications here, Bill,” Rooney told host Bill Spadea. “And one of them – and I think it’s quite obvious – is that if you’re not worried about having children, if that’s not something that’s part of your life plan, you’re going to vote differently. You’re much more concerned with the here-and-now, and that not only shapes how you feel about the present but also the issues that are at play in the public discussion.”
