JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Concerns about fake GoFundMe accounts abounded following the death of Detective Joseph Seals, the Jersey City hero cop who was assassinated in Tuesday’s mass shooting at a kosher deli.
Good news: the state and Jersey City PBAs have confirmed that this one (click here) is the real deal. It’s already raised $325,000 for the benefit of Detective Seals’s five children. Launched by the 700+ member Jersey City Police Officers Benevolent Association (POBA) through its spokesman Steve Lenox, “[a]ll of the dollars raised will go directly to the Seals family, helping them cover education, housing, and other expenses for the five children that Joe loved so dearly.”

The funeral is scheduled for next Tuesday at Saint Aedan’s Church.
