New poll finds Biden upside down in… New Jersey!?

A new poll from a reliable pollster suggests the “red wave” is building even in the Garden State, Save Jerseyans.

You can check out the report from Brock McCleary of Cygnal (commissioned by the NJGOP) right here.

President Biden’s approval rating is upside down – 53.2% disapprove to 45.2% approve – in the statewide survey of 500 likely 2022 voters taken between March 17th and 19th. 65% of New Jersey unaffiliated voters disapprove as do 26% of Democrats representing a stunning collapse from Biden’s 16-point N.J. victory over Donald Trump in 2020.

Phil Murphy remains more popular than Biden (49-47% approve), but 61% of unaffiliated voters now disapprove of his job performance.

Of particular concern for Democrats in 2022: unaffiliated voters prefer the GOP candidate for Congress by a massive 52%-33% margin.

Nearly 3-times as many New Jerseyans cite inflation as a major concern versus climate change; meanwhile, 57% of those polled agreed that government is overstepping its bounds inside public school classrooms.

Republicans began the cycle hoping to pick up NJ-07 (Malinowski) this year since redistricting made the district more red after Tom Kean Jr. – the presumptive 2022 nominee – lost it by only 4,000 votes in 2020.

As conditions for Republican improve, NJ-03 and NJ-05 (which Jack Ciattarelli lost by only a point last year) are starting to look like toss-up districts. NJ-06, NJ-09, and NJ-11 are tougher nuts to crack, but if a wave develops, Republicans no longer see “reach” districts as impossible opportunities depending upon how things look come the fall.
