Elon buys Twitter and the Left goes nuts

It’s official, Save Jerseyans: Elon Musk is on track to own 100% of Twitter.

On Monday, the social media giant announced that Musk would pay $54.20 per share in a $44 billion cash transaction. The Board has already approved the purchase; shareholder and regulatory approval are final hurdles.

The Board had initially attempted to block a hostile takeover by the man behind SpaceX and Tesla but, in the end, decided to accept a buyout.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” said Musk in a statement. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

How could any good faith actor find cause for alarm in any of that??

The key phrase there is “good faith actor.” Here’s a small sampling of the bad faith in circulation tonight:

Yes, the Left is predictably losing its collective shit. They don’t like or want any competition in the battle for your mind. It’s the same reason why they’re OBSESSED with controlling your kids’ Disney programming and school curriculum without parental input. Fundamentally, it betrays a lack of Leftist confidence in their own ideas. They instinctively recognize that they can’t win a fair fight.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth for the Left: after years of having very little direct competition, Elon Musk and Joe Rogan currently represent the “center” in American politics.

They may not be conservatives, granted, but they sure as shit aren’t Leftists either. It’s a difficult pill to swallow.

The Left’s info hegemony is over. The Age of Elon has arrived, possibly the most significant change in the media landscape since the national syndication of Rush Limbaugh or the launch of Fox News.
