N.J. Republicans gain registered voters, Democrats lose (again) in April

The post-Trump trend of New Jersey Republicans chipping away at Democrats’ massive statewide registration advantage continued last month, Save Jerseyans.

Republicans gained 2,419 registered voters statewide in April 2022, increasing from 1,486,005 to 1,488,424 across all 21 counties.

Democrats lost 894, slipping from 2,508,895 to 2,508,001.

If the current trend continues, Democrats may drop below their one million plus advantage at some point in the near future. Their advantage would still be major, but it’d be a symbolic change after years of New Jersey marching decisively in a leftward direction.

Environment clearly plays a role. Republicans performed strongly in the 2021 cycle and stand to post a historic result in the upcoming 2022 midterms.
