Biden drops below 40% approval in the RCP average

Joe Biden’s big gun speech last week doesn’t appear to have done much to help his atrocious polling position, Save Jerseyans. If anything? He’s in worse shape.

On Thursday, Biden’s job approval rating slipped below 40% on the RealClearPolitics average for the first time since he assumed office in January 2021. On Friday, his net negative rating (-15.3%) was the worst he’s achieved thus far in his presidency. Donald Trump was about 4-points stronger (-11.4%) on this same date in the 2018 cycle when the GOP lost both houses of Congress.

Nothing he’s doing is helping.

The latest poll posted (from Quinnipiac) put Biden’s job approval rating at an abysmal 35% approve, 56% disapprove. The responses from that survey were taken entirely after Biden’s June 2nd gun control address (between June 3rd and June 6th).

Interestingly, the same Q poll found that “Americans support 57 – 38 percent stricter gun laws in the United States” representing “an increase in support for stricter gun laws from a Quinnipiac University poll in November 2021 when 45 percent supported stricter gun laws in the United States and 49 percent opposed.”

In other words, there are a lot of Americans who agree with Joe Biden on guns (and probably abortion, too) but who still apparently have no confidence in the job he’s doing in D.C.
