Money can’t buy you love, Save Jerseyans, but electoral politics is probably the one place where spending does indicate how much you care.
In NJ-07? Tom Malinowski (D, NJ-07) is getting the cold shoulder from Nancy Pelosi.
On Thursday, House Majority Forward (a subsidiary arm of the Democrats’ House Majority PAC) announced a $1.7 million buy to help endangered Democrats over the holiday weekend. Malinowski’s name was conspicuously absent from the list. Meanwhile, the NRCC is running ads targeting both Malinowski and Andy Kim (D, NJ-03) over summer barbeque inflation.
It’s now officially a pattern. Back in March of this year, Pelosi’s super PAC excluded Malinowski from its initial list of fall advertising reservation.
They’re clearly letting him sink or swim on his own, folks. Pelosi simply has too many fires to put out over the next four months, and rescuing Malinowski in the current environment may be too heavy of a lift.
“National Democrats know Tom Malinowski’s reelection bid is a lost cause,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Samantha Bullock.
Malinowski won reelection against Tom Kean Jr. by around 4,000 votes in 2020. Redistricting has since made the district less blue, and Kean recently secured the party nomination for a rematch with the ethnically-challenged Democrat.
