Biden’s pollution/skin cancer story doesn’t make any sense

It was classic Joe Biden Save Jerseyans.

The president delivered climate change-related remarks near a gritty-looking Massachusetts power station on Wednesday, but the major news coming out of the event – or so we thought? – wasn’t related to a particular Biden Administration policy announcement but rather a major, casually-delivered health relevation. Specifically, that President Biden has (present tense) cancer.

“You’d have to put on your windshield wipers to get literally the oil slick off the window,” Biden told his audience, recalling his alleged childhood experiences with environmental pollution in Delaware. “That’s why I, and so damn many other people I grew up with, have cancer.”

A minor panic ensued on social media though most people tellingly assumed the notoriously demented president had simply made a mistake. The White House press office subsequently jumped in and claimed that Biden was referring to non-melanoma skin cancer which he had BEFORE becoming president.

Does that make Biden’s remarks any less incoherent?

“Exposure to air pollution does not increase the risk of developing skin cancer.” That’s according to the RWJBarnabas Health online skin cancer Q&A. People don’t get skin cancer from air pollution. Asthma? Sure. Lung cancer? Maybe. The overwhelming leading cause of skin cancer in urban, rural, and suburban areas is sun exposure.

Biden’s known for making shit up. Sometimes it’s substantive; in recent weeks, he’s repeatedly easily-debunked claims that the U.S. is experiencing less intense inflation than the rest of the world. He lies about a lot of less serious stuff too, ranging from a fake Amtrak conversation to an embellished youth baseball record.

Is this latest story another example of a shameless career politician taking liberties with the truth? A sign of creeping dementia? The White House covering up for a president who let something serious slip? A combination of two or three of the aforementioned scenarios?

Either way, it’s not hard to see why Americans’ confidence in Joe Biden seems to sink to a new low on a weekly basis.
