Kean raises enough to keep up, finish strong in Q3

There won’t be any let up in the NJ-07 ad war anytime soon, Save Jerseyans.

The campaign of Tom Kean Jr. announced a thoroughly-respectable $865,909 raised in the third quarter of 2022. The GOP challenger now has $1,158,534 cash on hand for the midterm cycle’s final month.

“Voters in this district are talking about the soaring inflation, the rising price of gas and the unmitigated rise in crime in our communities,” said Kean. “I’m grateful for everyone who has stepped up to support our campaign to fix these issues and in 25 days we will elect a Congress who is committed to getting the country back on track.”

Democrat incumbent Tom Malinowski is winning the apples-to-apples fundraising race and has more than twice as much as Kean in the bank at present – $2.78 million – but national GOP groups have invested over $2 million to aid Kean which more than evens the score.

There is one major independent expenditure question mark on the immediate horizon: a “Moderate Party Independent Fund” bankrolled by Nancy Pelosi. It’s not immediately clear – thought it seems likely – that this group could go on the air in NJ-07 where Democrats previously tried to launch a “Moderate Party” front to illegally land Malinowski on the ballot twice.
