Is the multi-million dollar man in trouble?
Here’s a noteworthy Election 2022 development, Save Jerseyans:
According to The Washington Post, Nancy Pelosi’s House Majority PAC has decided to invest $6.3 million at the last minute in ads for a handful of districts in the New York media market. One of the targeted districts is Josh Gottheimer’s 5th Congressional District covering a significant portion of North Jersey.
What’s interesting about this district is that it got significantly bluer in redistricting and, at present, the three-term Democrat incumbent has $14 million in the bank. Still, Jack Ciattarelli fought NJ-05 to close to a tie last November, and Pelosi’s late investment is a clear sign that Democrats are seeing the polls and are concerned that a “red wave” is building.
The Republican nominee is Frank Pallotta, the returning 2020 GOP nominee whose fundraising has been relatively nonexistent relative to the Gottheimer money machine.
NJ-05 is rated as an “lean” Democrat district in the RCP average.
