Gasoline once again topping $4 in electorally-significant parts of N.J. on Election Eve

Will pain at the pump fuel (pardon the bad pun) a major GOP electoral victory?

The ridiculously-high cost of gasoline has remained a major issue for voters throughout the Election 2022 cycle, Save Jerseyans, and it’s steadily climbing once again heading into the close of the midterms. It could impact some key races in the Garden State.

An average gallon of regular in New Jersey hit $3.932 on Monday November 7th, and AAA says it’s now above the psychologically-jarring $4 threshold ($4.018) in relatively affluent and solidly suburban Somerset County where Republicans are pushing hard to retake recently lost territory on the county commissioner board.

Somerset is also a key portion of battleground NJ-07 where former State Senator Tom Kean Jr. is slightly favored to unseat two-term Democrat incumbent Congressman Tom Malinowski.

The national average is slightly lower ($3.804) but still rising.
