Phil Murphy’s green energy obsession is crippling the N.J. power grid

It’s going up to 50-ish degrees tomorrow, Save Jerseyans, but the Christmas 2022 cold snap revealed an exceedingly uncomfortable truth for many in Trenton and everyone living under their yolk:

The Murphy Administration’s green energy adventurism is a disaster.

Think about it… on the 24th and 25th as families gathered to celebrate Christmas and illuminate their homes, PJM Interconnection implored millions of Americans across multiple states to conserve electricity. Why? Because blue and purple states increasingly determined to invest in unreliable “green” technologies (like wind power) and ridiculous electrification mandates like the one that’s a centerpiece of Phil Murphy’s own environmental activist-driven designs…

Is this really what progress looks like? Brownout warnings on Christmas Eve?

The Wall Street Journal said it all in its Monday editorial:

The climate lobby wants to force all homes and buildings to shift to electric heating even though it is less efficient than gas furnaces in frigid weather. When temperatures fall below freezing, heat pumps consume more and more power. “With a generation fleet that is more nat gas heavy than ever before, we are using twice as much gas to heat homes through electricity as we do with gas furnaces,” former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Pat Wood told Bloomberg.

[…]

The climate lobby dismisses such warnings and blamed the weekend’s power outages on the “bomb cyclone” supposedly caused by climate change. But storms happened before climate change became the default political explanation for everything. The Christmas emergency was a near-run disaster, and unless the political class wakes up, next time may be worse.

The good news? This is a fixable problem with the right leadership.

The bad news? There’s little real leadership in sight, and the Left is unlikely to ever learn its lesson.
