What can a student do in the real world with an AP African American History class?
Your guess is as good as mine, Save Jerseyans, but at a time when New Jersey’s K-12 population is struggling through lockdown-induced learning lost in real subjects like mathematics, Governor Murphy headed to Newark on Tuesday to announce that the number of Garden State schools providing the woke course will now be 27. He also used the opportunity to take fresh shot at Florida’s Ron DeSantis.
“The expansion of AP African American Studies in New Jersey will grant our students the opportunity to learn about the innumerable ways in which Black Americans have shaped and strengthened our country,” Murphy said in the classroom, promising in a statement that “[a]s governors like Florida’s Ron DeSantis prioritize political culture wars ahead of academic success, New Jersey will proudly teach our kids that Black History is American History.”
So is this course designed to prepare Newark kids for a promising future?
Or score culture war points (and boost presidential prospects)?
