Tucker Carlson departs Fox News

A shake-up is clearly underway at America’s leading right-of-center media outlet.

On Monday morning, FOX News Media issued a press release announcing that Fox News and Tucker Carlson “have agreed to part ways.”

“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the statement added.

There won’t be a formal goodbye. Murdoch’s media empire explained in its statement at that last Friday (April 21st) was Tucker Carlson’s last night in the 8 PM/ET time slot. For now, viewers will see “an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”

The program helmed by Carlson generated controversy, sure, but also massive ratings for the channel; his show was consistently near or on top of the cable news ratings heap.

Is Tucker’s exit part of a possible emerging pattern? Carlson’s depature closely follows that of Dan Bongino, a popular radio host and weekend television personality at the network after what was described as an unsuccessful contract negotiation.

While there’s no officially confirmed link, Save Jerseyans, it’s hard to overlook the recent nearly $800 million settlement between Fox News and Dominion as a possible factor in now the second major talent exist at Fox News in only a matter of days. Is the company changing its approach to content creation? Trying to save cash by eliminating expensive hosts? Speculation is all we’ve got for now.
