A source close to Tom Kean Jr. (R, NJ-07) confirmed for Save Jersey on Tuesday afternoon that the freshman congressman will support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House in an upcoming floor vote last in the day.
Kean had played his cards to close the vest until now.
Congressmen Jeff Vand Drew (R, NJ-02) and Chris Smith (R, NJ-04) have already declared for Jordan.
Jordan needs 217 to win the gavel; Republicans are apparently trying to convince some hold-out caucus members to vote “present” which would lower Jordan’s minimum threshold.
