Control of Gloucester County and two of the legislative districts partially inside its boundaries – LD3 and LD4 – may determine control of the New Jersey Legislature.
There’s something else major on the line: the fate of the notorious South Jersey Democrat Machine led by George Norcross III which, until 2019, expanded almost without interruption throughout the Southern geographic half of the state. A hypothetical GOP takeover in Gloucester County and LD4 would push the Democrat organization back inside its Camden County boundaries for the first time since the early 1990s. The implications for South Jersey and Trenton politics are massive.
