POLL: Biden’s N.J. job approval rating remains underwater

No Republican presidential candidate has carried New Jersey since 1988, but if Joe Biden’s pre-State of the Union approval rating in the Garden State is any indication? Anything might be possible in 2024.

A new Monmouth Poll released Thursday found the Democrat president’s job approval rating among registered voters in net negative territory: 44% approve and 53% disapprove.

That’s slightly better than the -9% approval rating Biden registered here back in Auguast 2023, but he’s well below the 55% positive approval rating he enjoyed in spring 2021 after assuming office. Joe Biden scored a 15.94-point victory in New Jersey four years ago; New Jerset was 11.49-points more Democratic than the nation as a whole that year, so Biden’s poor performance among registered New Jerseyans at present is clearly another major warning sign for his electoral prospects in the electoral college.
