It’s a shame. ABC is entrusted with a large chunk of our public airwaves. They ought to take their responsibility to provide fair and balanced information to American citizens more seriously.
The media’s role in elections should be to help us all become richly informed participants in the democratic process by sharing the facts and holding all candidates equally accountable. Especially when we have one candidate that has refused to face any serious questioning from the press corp.
There aren’t many nights anymore where Americans gather around there TVs to share the experience of an historic event.
Last night was the Super Bowl of the 2024 political season. All a fair-minded person wants to see is a good game, with the rules applied equally to all sides.
It didn’t happen. So we wake this morning ill-informed and frustrated. The game sucked and the shitty referees are sadly the dominant story.
Lasting takeaways?
Trump had a subpar night. He got pissed when he realized it was three against one and missed multiple opportunities to define Harris as the radical, California progressive she really is. He took the bait every time.
Kamala did what she set out to do. Look plausible as a President. Not surprising since she faced no tough questions, zero follow ups and zero fact checking. She spewed every debunked TDS lie and distortion with no pushback from the moderators. The same moderators who had written factchecks and research concerning reports of Haitians eating pets in Springfield, OH. They even spoke to the city manager. That kind of says all you need to know about their mission in this debate.
This morning I saw this and it centered me back to what this election is still all about. The economy, stupid.
“In the end, Harris’ trust numbers on the economy, which were already at an appalling 37 percent in a CNN poll, dropped two points post-debate.”
Forget this circus of distraction. This is what matters to most Americans. This is what Trump needs to talk about. All day, every day.
