VIDEO: Joe Kyrillos Officially Kicks Off Campaign with Packed Monmouth House

Yesterday at the Lincroft Inn in Monmouth County, State Sen. Joe Kyrillos officially announced his campaign for the United States Senate.

To say the banquet hall was crowded is an understatement; it was absolutely packed! I had to park a block down the street since the venue parking lot was overflowing with cars (and some jerk double parked).

The room itself was filled with a wide variety of Republicans. You had your establishment types along with grass root activists and conservative leaders. Notably sitting up front was Chris Christie’s father who was visibly very proud to see Joe make this historic announcement.

A packed crowd for Senator Kyrillos.

The challenge: unseating the Washington insider Bob Menendez. As of his last FEC filing on September 30, 2011, Menendez had approximately $7 million on hand. He should be releasing his FEC filings for the last quarter of 2011 very soon, and I’m sure that $7 million kitty has grown.

After winning reelection to the State Senate, Joe Kyrillos hit the fundraising trail hard for his exploratory committee. He’s spent the last few months going to fundraising events across the state to build up the warchest he will need to take on Menendez. Since Joe converted his exploratory committee into an actual candidate committee, FEC filings aren’t required until March.

Wall-to-Wall Supporters… well over 100.

There is a primary Joe Kyrillos has to win first. He is facing former tea party darling Anna Little whose many former supporters were at the Lincroft Inn for Joe’s historic announcement. However, Anna was underestimated once before and that allowed Anna to overcome her primary opponent at the time, Diane Gooch.

In addition to Little there is Joseph Rullo a businessman (Today’s Solar Energy Company) from Toms River. Rullo was the first candidate to actually file besides Ian Linker who withdrew from the race several months ago. Rullo’s campaign manager, Stacey Chait, worked on Chris Christie’s campaign organizing student groups across the state in a massive student volunteer effort. Rullo will announce his Senate run with the media on February 24, 2012 at the Quality Inn on Route 37 East in Toms River at 8:00pm

One thing is certain: this race has just begun and the fun will soon start… Jersey style, that is!

  1. the only choice for true conservatives is anna little. joe kyrillos is an establishment senator and buddies with our moderate governor. anna is an outsider!!

  2. Joe who ? If this stiff shirt establishment type is on the ballot with Romney and the message is that the poor will always be with us ? The Republicans will lose big time. Kean Jr lost to Menendez by over 30 % back in 2006 and Kean had name recognition. They guy is boring and does not connect with blue collar Republican voters. At least Anna Little could provide for some entertainment while exciting the base

  3. Anna Little is crazy and couldn't get elected as head of the nut house. She's New Jersey's Christine O'Donnell

  4. Irwan, Kyrillos is going no where without the Republican base behind him. . Republicans would be better served with debates on the issues rather than personal attacks. As for the Christine O' Donnell analogy ,unlike Anna Little I don't remember her ever having a law degree or practice, let alone have been elected for anything.

  5. Merely being an elected official does not make one part of the “establishment”, if that were the case then George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Ronald Reagan were all part of the “establishment”.

What makes someone part of the establishment is their mindset; does this person focus on the good of their country or on their own self interest and ego, are they open-minded and have the door open to hear the opinions of their constituents.

This is what I can tell you about Joe Kyrillos (Since he is my State Sen.), he has always had his door open and took the opinions of his constituents very seriously. And I might add a majority of those constituents are of a tea party mindset.

  6. "Merely being an elected official does not make one part of the 'establishment,' if that were the case then George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Ronald Reagan were all part of the 'establishment.'"

    Powerful point, Charles!

  7. Kyrillos is the part of the liberal problem in NJ. He admitted he made a mistake borrowing 5 BILLION from the pension fund that resulted in police and fire health insurance unfairness. Who ever heard of borrowing money from employees pensions then blaming it on them. The governor is cleaning up Kyrillos mess lets get that straight. He is a 20 year incumbent who is part of the problem that resulted in unemployment, foreclosures, and corruption in NJ. This is a republican who took money from Goldman Sach, and bid rig informant in his home town Dwek. We need to say no to Kyrillos & yes to Anna.

  8. I suggest you look at 2 things, number 1 look into Anna Little and the Highlands Police Department/PBA.

Number 2 so what he got money from Goldman Sachs, there is nothing wrong with anyone making a living and donating their money to whatever cause they see fit. Also and more importantly Anna Little received campaign contributions from Goldman Sachs as well. You can view the information on the FEC's website.
