Trump Signs Chris Smith’s Hong Kong Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump signed a bill on Thanksgiving eve applauded by Democracy advocates and decried by the communists in Beijing.

The “Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act” (HR 3289) is sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R, NJ-04) who celebrated Trump’s action.

“Enactment of makes it abundantly clear that the Trump Administration, US Congress, & the American people stand in solidarity with the people of ,” Smith tweeted. “Beating, torturing, jailing of democracy activists is wrong.”

The Act’s enactment comes mere days after a major victory for Hong Kong protesters in local elections.
