In latest sign he’s going national, Murphy drops “NJ” from Twitter handle

When did it happen, Save Jerseyans? I’m not sure other than the fact that it was very recently.

What we know: Governor Phil Murphy’s political Twitter account has jettisoned the “NJ” that used to follow “Phil Murphy” (see below).

Context: with reelection safely behind him, Murphy launched not one but two political action committees earlier this year. It’s widely believed that the Democrat governor is ready to test the national waters beginning with the upcoming 2022 midterm elections.

What about all of the unfinished business here in New Jersey? Mostly arising from the messes he helped make? Or actively ignored?

Oh well.

This isn’t the first time Phil rebranded to downplay Garden State ties. Back in 2021, his notorious New Jersey-based soccer team changed its name to “Gotham FC.”

Maybe Murphy and Chris Christie can offer New Hampshire voters a two-for-one deal?
