June’s Mahmoud v. Taylor SCOTUS decision requires school districts to let parents op-out of classes where materials conflict with their religious beliefs.
Mikie Sherrill dissents. Vigorously. Would she ignore the Supreme Court as governor?
We have evidence to believe she might. Back during the spring primary, the future Democrat gubernatorial nominee appeared on a candidate panel and was asked by the moderator whether parents should be permitted to opt out of lessons with LGTBQ materials just like they can (in theory) opt out of sex education classes. The Virginian ex-pat Congresswoman wasn’t very ambiguous in her response.
“I would push an LGBTQ education into our schools,” replied Sherrill. “Parents have a right to opt out of a lot of things, but this is not an area where they should be opting out.”
“Push.” That’s interesting phrasing!
Of course, they’re already pushing alphabet soup nonsense i our schools. Sexually explicit sex ed classes began infiltrating Garden State public schools during Phil Murphy’s tenure, and last year’s teacher’s union convention featured a “Queering the Curriculum” seminar on the topic. Save Jersey broke the story. A common retort is that you can theoretically opt your child out, but the latest Murphy Administration standards seek to inject inappropriate material into subject areas well beyond the obvious ones like sex ed…
From Mikie’s own mouth:
ATTENTION NJ VOTERS
Mikie Sherill, the Democrat nominee for NJ Governor, says that she will push an LGBTQ agenda in schools and WILL NOT allow parents to opt out.
She wants schools to groom your children.
