N.J. parents are being misled into thinking they can opt out of Pervy Murphy’s sex ed classes

I wrote about this back in April, Save Jerseyans, but the misinformation continues to circulate at school board meetings and PTA gatherings across the Garden State.

Opting out of Governor Murphy’s sex ed curriculum for young school children will NOT be as easy as advertised.

Parents are looking for answers. What they’re receiving are misleading answers. This excerpt from a recent report of a Barnegat Township Board of Education public meeting caught my eye (h/t The SandPaper.net):

“[District curriculum coordinator Jim] Barbieri said the state recognizes and respects that some families prefer to have these conversations about sex and gender privately. Thus, any child whose parent or guardian presents to the school a signed statement that any part of instruction in health, family life education or sex education is in conflict with his or her conscience or sincerely held moral or religious beliefs shall be excused from that portion of the course. Parents and guardians seeking to exercise this option should contact their local school principal directly.

For the students who have opted out, the health teacher will assign a separate project on a different portion of the curriculum.”

It won’t be that simple. One of our favorite legislators explained why back in April

“The so-called opt-out of the new rules is meaningless, because as the standards state, the specifics of the curriculum can apply to all content areas,” explained State Senator Joe Pennacchio (R-26). “A parent may be able to opt their child out of health and phys-ed, but the material will be integrated in science, social studies, and English lessons, anyway.”

“My message to parents is this: Don’t let them tell you that you can opt out of everything, because you can’t,” added Pennacchio.

Pennacchio cited the following language directly from the FAQ portion of the New Jersey Department of Education’s website:

“Each school district is required by law to provide instruction in grades K-12 at an appropriate place in the curriculum that highlights and promotes diversity, including economic diversity, equity, inclusion, tolerance, and belonging in connection with gender and sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, disabilities, and religious tolerance; as well as the political, economic, and social contributions of persons with disabilities and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people at the middle and high school level. There is no opt-out provision in these statues.”

Nowhere does it specify “health classes” only.

Activist teachers will insert books in social studies and language arts classes (by way of example), forcing busy parents to police each and every lesson your child is assigned unless you already know and trust the instructor in question.

Your 2nd Grader may learn about transgender ideology – e.g., that ‘not all boys have pensises’ – without a formal health class ever occurring.

No “opt out” form can fully protect your kids from this garbage. The radicals who concocted these standards knew what they were doing, giving far-Left teachers the ability to embed their personal beliefs in any course of study. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying to you.
