As I said yesterday, Save Jerseyans, and like Bing Crosby used to sing: accentuate the positive. It’s good advice.
Today is going to be brutal. There’s no use sugarcoating it. But even though things seem a bit grim for the old USA, there are some native sons heading to New Orleans for Super Bowl 47 worth celebrating. Examples?
You already know about Joe Flacco, the superstar Ravens quarterback from Audubon, New Jersey (Camden County).
College football fans and Scarlet Knight alums are well-acquainted with 49ers Right Tackle Anthony Davis and Baltimore Ravens Running Back Ray Rice, both of whom share Rutgers University as their alma mater. There’s Jersey roots at the coaching level, too. San Fran 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman is a Ventnor (Atlantic County) native and a graduate of Holy Spirit High School in Absecon (h/t Cape May County’s Tyler Donohue of ESPN.com).
