Bob Yudin hasn’t even announced whether he’s seeking another term as BCRO chairman, Save Jerseyans, but our sources report that he was working the phones this past week.

A dismissal showing for Bergen County’s 2015 county and legislative candidates means Yudin, who has never been overwhelmingly popular as head of a perennially divisive organization, may now face a stiffer challenger than his polarizing three-way battle with Anthony Rottino and John McCann back in 2012.

Wyckoff’s newly-reelected mayor Kevin Rooney is the first challenger to officially enter the race. Looming large, however, is the likely candidacy of Paul DiGaetano, the former Assembly GOP Majority Leader between 1996 and 2001.

Bergen Republicans need to defend their remaining freeholder seats in 2016 and, in 2017, once again try to retake Senate and Assembly seats. Which of the likely candidates (as of today) do you think would do the best job of getting the BCRO into fighting shape?

  1. Paul is a nice, level headed guy who knows how to work with people and get things done. Met him a couple of times, like him. It would be a pleasant change from the bombastic and bullying Yudin.
