The election has not been over for twenty hours and the flurry of activity just continues to come out of Bergen County. “Well, when do the Republicans of Bergen County start the Yudin must go chants?” remarked former Freeholder Rob Hermansen in a Facebook post last night.

It appears the answer was quickly as one candidate, Kevin Rooney of Wyckoff is already in as previously reported, and another appears on the verge of the fold.

Save Jersey can now exclusively confirm that former Assembly Majority Leader Paul DiGaetano is being actively recruited by many influential members of the party, including many former backers of Yudin, and he is “seriously considering” running for chair.

DiGaetano, a current resident of Franklin Lakes, represented District 36 in the assembly from 1986-2006.

Long rumored to be a candidate for chairman or a return to the legislature, he would instantly become a leading contender for the chairmanship come June. In addition to his support in his new hometown, he enjoys a strong base of support among the Republicans he formerly represented in the assembly as well as the Young Republicans who honored Paul back in March.

Stay tuned to Save Jersey as the situation continues to unfold as it seems we are getting updates by the hour…
