Former Freeholder Hermansen a possible 3rd entry?

Paul DiGaetano has confirmed that he intends to challenge incumbent Bergen County Republican Chairman Bob Yudin in this June’s convention, Save Jerseyans.
“The general consensus was to change the direction of (the party’s) leadership,” the former Assembly Majority Leader told The Record on Wednesday. DiGaetano’s serious interest in the chairmanship was first reported by Save Jersey.
The former legislator’s bid is guaranteed to stir the pot.
Recent county-wide losses, defections, atypical national trends and typical local drama have contributed to uncertainty throughout the once-might Bergen GOP’s ranks although this year’s freeholder slate was selected this week without much controversy.
What’s more, the race could still expand beyond a two-contest.
Wyckoff’s Kevin Rooney dropped out of contention but former Bergen County Freeholder and current Mahwah Councilman Robert Hermansen, a vocal Yudin critic, is thought by some BCRO watchers to be considering a run, telling Facebook friends on Tuesday that he is “beginning to realize that if you want something done you have to take care of it yourself,” and teasing, “[l]ots of important decisions I hope to soon be making.” Hermansen could shake up the contest and draw from both candidates’ strongholds in a process famous for its run-off phase.
The Councilman declined to comment on his future plans when reached by Save Jersey.
