Former Assemblyman Paul DiGaetanos effort to oust incumbent Bergen County GOP Chairman Bob Yudin took its first outward step on Tuesday night at the Greycliff in Moonachie.

The ‘working class’ and GOP-dominated (at the local level) towns of South Bergen’s 36th Legislative District are key not only to Bergen County’s political future but also the DiGaetano effort. DiGaetano needs a landslide victory among committee folks there to secure a Bergen-wide win at the county convention on June 21st in Hackensack.

He’s off to a strong start. Sources report 100+ supporters at the event including Ridgefield Park Municipal Chairwoman Joan Grace Carlson, Rutherford Mayor Joe DeSalvo, Lyndhurst Municipal Chair Mike Cerbo, and North Arlington Councilmembers Dan Pronti, Brian Fitzhenry, Allison Sheedy, Mario Karcic, and Rich Hughes. Those are the types of supporters he’ll need – in large numbers – to prevail.

The challenger’s campaign arises out of several major party setbacks and losses at the county and local levels. Yudin still has the support of key legislators whose districts overlap northern areas of his county.

  1. This is the only man to bring our party back together after it’s been ripped apart in so many directions! He didn’t give a speech, he spoke from the heart and honestly. He’s not a Mudslinger, but when it’s thrown at me I throw it back and Yudin needs to get out & get rid of his horrendous ego!
